What is trade insurance?
Trade insurance is a means to protect yourself against receiving cracked or damaged DVDs. If you purchase trade insurance, you will be charged 1 extra iTrade in the transaction. However, should you receive the DVD and find it cracked, scratched or unusable, simply mail the game to our office and we will fully reimburse your iBucks once we receive it.
What do the DVD conditions mean?
We use 5 different game conditions to help traders describe the DVD that they have for trade.
The conditions are :
Excellent : Includes DVD, box, insert, etc.
Very Good : Includes DVD, insert, box sleeve.
Good : Includes DVD and insert.
Fair : DVD only.
Poor : DVD only, but scratched (still playable).
We require all DVDs to be in working condition. Trading DVDs that are known to be unplayable will result in bad feedback as well as possible termination of your iTrade account.
I have approved a trade but still have no iBucks, why is this and what should I do now?
Do not worry, this is merely part of the system. Once you approve the trade, the appropriate number of iBucks are removed from your account and held in trust by the site. You then ship the DVD and once the purchaser receives the DVD, they merely mark it as "received" in their "pending trades" list. The second they mark the DVD as received, you will instantly have your iBucks released to you and a message will be sent to you informing you of the confirmation.
What is the difference between iTrades and iBucks?
iBucks are the virtual currency used by the site to assign a value to each and every DVD. If you want to think of iBucks in real life, 1 iBuck is roughly equivalent to 1 US dollar. iTrades, on the other hand, are more like tokens. You need at least 1 iTrade to purchase a DVD off of another user, think of it as a trading token. If you desire insurance (more on that in the FAQ above), it will cost you 2 iTrades to make a purchase.
The flow of a trade therefore goes like this, you choose a DVD you want to purchase and are required to have the appropriate number of iBucks (which will go to the purchaser) as well as 1 or 2 (if you desire insurance) iTrades (which go to the site to help maintain the it).
How should I package the DVD (s) that I am trading?
This will depend on what it is you are sending. If you wish to send the entire DVD case with the DVD, a basic 6 ¼ x 9 3/8, bubble mailer envelope works beautifully as it can be sent through regular mail for a minimal cost. If you are sending disc and printed materials only, ensure that the disk is protected by a standard CD Sleeve to hold the disk in transport. We find that a 5 ¾ X 8 ¾ envelop will fit the disk, insert and paper case sleeve quite nicely.
How should I ship the DVD (s)?
There are countless methods of shipping and various shipping companies, and you may go with whomever you wish. The Minimum cost for shipping will vary between 1 and 2 dollars. (This is in Canadian currency, the cost may vary for your area). We do not require that you send them express, or registered. However for your protection we do suggest that you get some sort of post tracking / signature on delivery. The cheapest tracking would be to register the letter. This costs 6.25 plus postage in Canada. When you have a tracking number / delivery confirmation you are protected against the DVD being lost in transit or the possibility that the receiver claims the item never arrived.
Why should I get a delivery confirmation?
We advise you to get the delivery confirmation on shipments to protect yourself. A side benefit is the fact that registered mail tends to move through the system faster and thus gets delivered sooner. However, we recommend getting this to protect yourself from fraud as well as the possibility of the item being lost in transit. You will be protected from fraud if the buyer of your game claims that they never received the game.
If you are dealing with someone that has a very good rating, then the chances are that you do not need to worry about fraud on their end. Although there is still a small possibility of damaged or lost DVDs via the mail system, even if there is no foul play involved. For example, the North American game rental company IOGC.net, sends out hundreds of games a day with minimal game loss. They reported to us that they average a loss or damage of a game via the mail system at about 1 in 3000.
However even the small odds don’t mean you should not protect yourself. Rather, judge each case individually. Is it worth it to spend 7 dollars on a DVD only worth 15? Probably not, but on that 40 dollar DVD it probably is.
I received a tracking number when I sent the DVD, should I send it to the buyer as well?
It is entirely up to you, the important thing is that you have the tracking number to protect yourself. However if you send the tracking number to the buyer, it will place them at ease. As well it will allow them to track the status of their purchase with out having to bother you for the information.
I have requested a DVD from someone, and they have requested that I send them money instead of using the iTrade system. What should I do?
Do not send them money. This person is attempting to scam both the site and, potentially you. When you choose to bypass the iTrade currency system you lose all of the safe guards that we use to protect you.
If you trade with someone and send them money via other means you have no recourse if that individual chooses not to send you the DVD.
